The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) is proud to announce that we have been designated a Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Charity Partner! BCAN has been allocated 25 guaranteed entries for the 38th Annual Marine Corps Marathon to be held on October 27, 2013; an event that sold out in 2 hours and 41 minutes in 2012.
  • We are looking at building “Team BCAN” to not only run in the event and raise awareness for bladder cancer but to raise needed funds for fostering research and patient education. According to the Marine Corps Marathon, there is not a required qualifying time to participate in the event, but all runners should maintain at least a 14 minute mile pace. In order to become a member of “Team BCAN” and officially have a slot in this year’s race, you must be registered through BCAN.
  • No federal or Marine Corps endorsement is implied.
  • If you are interested in becoming a member of BCAN’s team or have any questions, please contact Larry Rzepka, BCAN’s Executive Director, at lrzepka@bcan.org.

    Honoraria and Memorial Gifts

    Back to Main Donation page

Gifts made in honor or memory of a loved one are a thoughtful way to pay tribute to someone special in your life.

Gifts can be made to BCAN online through the link above or by mail with a check.  If making an honoraria or memorial donation, please be sure to indicate, either with the donation or in an email to Laura at laura@bcan.org:

    • who the donation is in honor or memory of
    • who you would like to have notified of your donation (and their contact information)
The easiest way to do this is print out this form (PDF), complete it, and return it with your donation.  BCAN will send a card acknowledging your kind donation to the person (or people) you would like to have notified.

If you have lost a loved one to bladder cancer and wish to suggest BCAN as a recipient organization for donations made in their name, you have several options.

    • BCAN greatly appreciates being listed as a suggested recipient for memorial donations in a funeral program or obituary.  Please ask that people indicate your loved one’s name, include your name and address so that we can send you an acknowledgment, and mail checks to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network at 4915 St. Elmo Ave, Suite 202, Bethesda, MD 20814 or donate online at http://www.bcan.org/take-action/donate/.  Please feel free to contact us at 888-901-BCAN (2226) to have us mail donation envelopes or answer any questions.

You can also request that your friends and loved ones make donations to BCAN in your or a loved one’s honor:

    • click here for more information about encouraging your friends to join you in giving to BCAN through our Write for the Cure campaign
    • click here for examples of people who have set up online fundraisers or raised money in their communities for BCAN by participating in an athletic event, asking people to donate to BCAN in honor of their birthday or survivorship anniversary, and other creative ideas

No matter what method you choose, BCAN will send thank you notes to each donor who shares their contact information, and will also provide you with the list of donors if we have your contact information so that you may send your own acknowledgments.

Please feel free to contact us at 888-901-BCAN (2226) with any questions.
