Bob Schieffer to serve as Honorary Chair
for Walks for Bladder Cancer

BCAN is proud to announce that CBS newsman and bladder cancer survivor Bob Schieffer is serving as our honorary chair for Bladder Cancer Awareness Day this Saturday, May 7.

Survivors and supporters around the country will be celebrating Bladder Cancer Awareness Day by participating in more than forty Walks for Bladder Cancer in 24 states. Schieffer will be joining the National Capital Area walk.

Schieffer was diagnosed with bladder cancer several years ago after he noticed blood in his urine. Since then, he has given several interviews about his diagnosis and treatment. His willingness to speak out about his disease has helped other bladder cancer survivors recognize that they are not alone and encouraged people to visit a doctor if they see symptoms. Schieffer has also been a strong supporter in the fight against tobacco.

Schieffer is the Chief Washington Correspondent for CBS News and has anchored Face the Nation since 1991.
