How have you coped with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer recurrence?
Since my diagnosis in 2007, I have had six TURBTs and 20 local cystoscopies. Fortunately, all have been non-muscle invasive. When hearing another TURBT is needed, I simply choose to dwell on the positive potential of the procedure. |
What gives you hope? What advice would you give to others who are experiencing recurrence?
I am a dually diagnosed individual – I have both bladder cancer and advanced prostate cancer. In order to cope and live with these active cancers, I maintain a very positive attitude. I share Norman Cousin's philosophy, which he explained in his book “Anatomy of an Illness,” that an upbeat attitude will enable me to get great care and treatment from all of my healthcare professionals. This allows me to focus upon today while looking forward to tomorrow. My attitude, my friends and my faith will get me through and have done so for years. I wish you the very best in your journey. You can get through it, too. |
