The study authors asked us to share this information with the BCAN network.

The purpose of this research study/ cancer survivorship survey is to understand what types of social media cancer survivors and their caregivers use.  We are also interested in perceptions and opinions from survivors and their caregivers on the strengths and weaknesses of those media.

This study is being led by Kathleen Wolin from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Kate Wolin is an epidemiologist whose research focuses on the role of lifestyle in reducing risk of chronic diseases, like cancer, and on improving outcomes after a disease diagnosis.  Much of her academic research has focused on the role exercise and obesity play in developing cancer and outcomes after a cancer diagnosis.

De-identified data will also be shared with collaborators at the Duke University Digital Health Science Center.
