Mario A. Eisenberger received his MD from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  He completed a residency in medicine and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Michael Reese Hospital, followed by a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Miami and the Comprehensive Cancer Center for the State of Florida.

Dr. Eisenberger has served on the faculty at the University of Miami, was a senior investigator at the National Cancer Institute, and was a professor of medicine and oncology at the University of Maryland. He is currently a professor of urology and the R. Dale Hughes Professor of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Eisenberger is active in numerous national and regional organizations and has published widely. His current research focuses on prostate cancer.
