Chong-xian Pan, M.D., Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Medicine and Urology
Dr. Pan is Associate Professor of Medicine and Urology, a board-certifiedand a physician-scientist specializing in care and research at the University of California, Davis. He earned his medical degree at Fudan University Shanghai Medical College, Shanghai, China, a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at Loyola University of Chicago and an MS in Clinical Research at the University of California Davis. His post-graduate training included a four-year residency of Urology in China, residency of Internal Medicine at Saint Francis hospital, and a fellowship of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Indiana University.
Dr. Pan leads a multi-facetedresearch program at UC Davis. His lab focuses on translational research in , such as development of -specific nanotheranostics for the diagnosis and treatment of , microdosing approaches to identify chemoresistance and the underlying chemoresistance mechanisms for personalized , mouse xenograft models to develop targeted therapy and precision medicine, and cancer stem cells. He is an inventor on three patents, with two of those projects reaching the . In addition to translating his own preclinical studies into human studies, he serves the PI of several other clinical trials. Dr. Pan has received numerous awards including the NCI Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award. His research has been funded by the Veteran Administration Merit Award, NIH, DoD, American Cancer Society, California Institute for Regenerative Medicine and others.
